Brad Gattie
FLEX INSTRUCTOR
Brad Gattie is an instructor with RenderSafe Training and Consulting's Forensic Low Explosive Examination courses as well as the Bomb Threat Management and Incident Response course. He is currently employed as a Sergeant with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and has been a member of the Department’s Bomb squad since 2006.
Sgt. Gattie received his Public Safety Bomb Technician certification in 2010 from the FBI/U.S. Army Hazardous Devices School on the Redstone Arsenal Army base in Huntsville Alabama. The school’s main training objective is identification and render safe procedures for IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and booby traps.
Brad’s training includes FEMA Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials, Advanced Explosives Disposal Techniques as an Assistant Instructor, FBI Post Blast Training, FBI Large Vehicle Bomb Training, Joint Civil Support Team CBRN Characterization, Exploitation, and Mitigation (C.S.T. J.C.C.E.M.) W.M.D. / HazMat training, and CTOS – Center for Radiological / Nuclear Training.
Brad co-instructed the FLEX workshop at the 2024 International Association of Bomb Technicians & Investigators 2024 International In-Service Training in Las Vegas, NV.
Brad is also certified in Intermediate and Advanced Electronics. Brad also was an Explosive Detection K-9 Handler for 12 years and has hundreds of hours of training working around explosives and explosive devices.
In addition to Sgt. Gattie’s collateral duties with the Department’s Bomb Squad, he is also a Patrol Training Officer Supervisor overseeing 21 Training Officers who train new Deputy Sheriff’s for patrol duties.
